Writer on cricket. In his youth W.J. Ford was recognized as a considerable cricket player for both his school, Repton, and his university, Oxford. Ford taught first at Marlborough College and then became principal of Nelson College, New Zealand, where he met and married Katherine Macey Browning in 1887.
